mycomuseFACTORY

mushrooms and curiosity grow here.

MycoMuse Factory is a small grow room and budding lab in the Šumava, Czech Republic. It grows Cordyceps militaris — a mushroom that slowly turns inconspicuous white mycelium into orange fruiting bodies. Cameras record its growth from the first changes to maturity.

lots of questions. and something is already growing.

Which conditions suit the mushrooms? What affects their growth? And why do two seemingly identical boxes sometimes each go their own way?

MycoMuse Factory grows out of questions like these. Step by step, a base for keeping cultures, growing and small experiments is taking shape here. Cameras follow the growth, sensors measure the environment and notes help tell what really happened from what only seemed to.

Some things work, some surprise and some need another try. The mushrooms still grow their own way. They have the advantage of never having read the plans.

RIGHT NOW IN THE GROW ROOM

In all five boxes on camera, fruiting bodies are growing.

Each box follows its own course, which you can see in the photos.

The harvest of this batch is currently planned for 10–20 October. The exact date depends on ripening. Availability and pick-up need to be confirmed in advance.

    first, the mycelium settles in.

It grows through the prepared substrate and gradually covers it with a white web.

    then comes the colour.

The surface starts to turn yellow and orange. The fruiting bodies will appear later.

    the first fruiting bodies appear.

Tiny outgrowths begin to rise above the surface. From here on, the photos show how they change.

    and then they grow.

The fruiting bodies lengthen and slowly mature. Each box moves at a slightly different pace.

Interested in a pick-up? Write and ask about the current batch. Before you travel, you will have confirmation of what is available, on what terms, and when and where the hand-over can take place.

And if you just want to watch them grow, that is a good reason to keep coming back too.
